Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Poly(di-methyl silane) is the most fundamental organopolysilane. We have prepared poly(di-methyl silane) thin films by vacuum evaporation technique. In this study, evaporated thin films were irradiated by an Xe lamp. Irradiated thin films were examined by ultra-violet and infrared absorption measurements as well as direct current measurement. As a result, in ultra-violet absorption measurement, the strength of the absorption peak due to the extended σ electrons in the silicon backbone was decreased with irradiation time. In infrared absorption measurement, the strength of the absorption peak due to Si-O vibration was increased with irradiation time. Electric conductivity of the thin films obtained was increased with irradiation time. It was also found that the change in the electric conductivity was irreversible. The rate of the increase of the electric conductivity was suppressed when ultra-violet light was irradiated by the Xe lamp.
