Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | We propose a new GaN device that the photoelectrochemical cell with a GaN working electrode is used for water splitting. The band-edge potentials of n- and p-type GaN were clarified to be aplicable as the photoelectrode of water splitting from impedance measurements. Clear photo-current was observed from current-voltage measurement. Hydrogen generation from Pt counterelectrode was demonstrated using n-type GaN photoelectrode with 1V extra bias. The GaN electrode was stable in HCl electrolyte. Thus, GaN is expected to use as a photoelectrode for H_2 generation by water photoelectrolysis. |
