Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The amount of OH radicals produced from single bubble cavitation at various ultrasonic frequencies and pressure amplitudes was investigated using aqueous terephthalate ion as a fluorescence monitor. The corresponding dynamics of the single bubble was observed by stroboscopic and light-scattering methods. The amount of OH radicals per cycle as well as the intensity of sonoluminescence were inversely proportional to frequency and were proportional to acoustic pressure amplitude. However, when a single bubble was dancing at the lower pressure amplitude, the amount of OH radicals was greater than that for the stable bubble at the higher pressure, in spite of no sonoluminescence emitted.
