Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) As the method to measure the concentration and property of particle suspension, we proposed an ultrasonic attenuation method using a plano-concave ultrasonic transducer, which is based on the attenuation affected by passing ultrasonic wave through the specimen liquid. In order to carry out the experiment, we used a focused ultrasonic impulse with a broad frequency band, instead of a continuous wave utilizing in the conventional method. As the specimens, we used some substances of fine particle that the acoustic properties or sizes are different from each other. Especially, milk fat was examined in detail. As a result, it was revealed that the particle concentration could be instantaneously measured easily by the frequency spectrum of the echo pulse passed through the specimen liquid. In addition, it was clarified that the attenuation information of the frequency spectrum depending on the acoustic properties and sizes was obtained over broad frequency range, and the particle substance was conversely able to be specified by the attenuation spectrum.
