Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a frequency domain scheduling technique for the downlink of OFDM adaptive modulation-based broadband wireless access systems to maximize the system throughput while satisfying the required Quality of Service (QoS) for the different types of traffic considered. In the proposed scheme, the OFDM subcarriers are grouped into wider subchannels, and the type of data for each user is classified into Real-Time (RT) and Non-Real-Time (NRT) traffics. The resource allocation process is divided into a first stage in which each subchannel is assigned to a particular user using a conventional frequency domain scheduling technique, and a second stage in which a part of the subchannels allocated to the NRT traffic is reassigned to the RT traffic which has critical delay time constraints. In addition, in order to mimimize the drop in the system throughput due to the subchannel reassignment process for the RT traffic, the subchannels reallocated to the RT traffic are selected in the ascending order of their capacity toward the NRT traffic. Computer simulation shows that the proposed scheme can achieve high system throughputs while satisfying the QoS requirements of both RT and NRT traffics.
