Abstract(in English) Transmission speed of 3rd generation (3G) cellular systems grows higher and higher. When the transmission speed achieves to Mbps, many kinds of services requiring high bit rates will arise. A video distribution service is one of the services that will be available in high speed cellular systems. On the other hand, it is discussed to apply seamless and end-to-end internet architectures to 4G systems, which requires all traffics, including voice, have to be sent as packets. In the high-speed and packetized cellular systems, quality of service (QoS) control and packet scheduling play important roles. However conventional scheduling algorithms can enlarge the system capacity by adapting to channel condition, they can not satisfy QoS of each user and not be applied to uplinks. In this paper, we propose uplink distributed scheduling for QoS control in 3G systems. In the proposed scheme, each mobile station decides their timing of sending packets themselves according to their channel quality. The threshold used for the decision is adaptively adjusted according to link utilization and required E_b/N_0. In this paper, we verify the availability of the proposed scheme through computer simulations.
