Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Although application of field bus systems to safety-related parts of industrial machinery shows rapid progress, safety-related communication requires special considerations to ensure the desired safety integrity levels. This paper surveys recent safety-related field bus trends from the perspective of associated international standards and conventional technologies, and describes a result of the study on basic safety requirements and measures for fail-safe interface gate circuits to connect directly safety-related devices in a manufacturing line to the field bus network.
