Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Network monitoring is necessary to evaluate the performance and to ensure operational stability and efficiency. We have been monitoring traffic statistics for the JGN-II network and are studying the results. RTT is one of statistics we have collected as a byproduct of the monitoring activity. RTT values do carry some hints about the underlying network's quality of service and capacity. In this paper, we clarify the nature of the RTT statistics that we have collected for the JGN-II network and survey the techniques used to analyse RTT statistics. We then analyse the RTT-statistics and examine its utility in monitoring network status.
