Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this research, we will analyze the phenomena of turn-taking in spontaneous dialogues by sign language. First, dialogues by native signers were recorded. Second, the notion of pause in sign language for discourse analysis was introduced like for speech analysis and the utterance unit which is bounded by these pauses was defined. Third, we analyzed the phenomena of turn-taking using the defined utterance unit. As the results, the similar phenomena to speech were observed and it was shown that sign language have common characteristics to real-time communication media as speech. Meanwhile the distinctive phenomena in sign language were also observed.
