A Study on Iterative Channel Estimation for High Spectral Efficiency Turbo Equalization

Abstract(in English) This paper proposes an iterative channel estimation scheme for trellis coded soft interference canceller followed by MMSE filter (TC-SC/MMSE), which is comprised of trellis coded modulation (TCM) and iterative SC/MMSE equalizer, to achieve much higher accuracy than conventional channel estimation techniques. In the proposed system, after the channel impulse response is measured using a preamble sequence, it is also updated in iterative manner using a part of reliable log-likelihood ratio (LLR) sequence of the TCM soft-input soft-output (SISO) decoder to further improve accuracy of the estimated channel impulse response. Computer simulation confirms that the proposed scheme is effective in improvement of the channel estimation accuracy.
