Performance Comparison of LDPC-MMSE-SIC and Turbo-MMSE-SIC for MIMO System

Abstract(in English) Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems can achieve high data-rate and high capasity transmission. Since different signals are transmitted by each antenna simultaneously, the intereference occurs between transmitted signals. We have to detect each signal from the multiplexed signal. The Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) algorithm is used for spatial filtering. The MMSE filtering can realize low complexity signal detection. However, the signal detected by the MMSE filtering includes interference of other signals. MMSE-SIC that performs Soft Interference Cancellation (SIC) by soft repica and MMSE filtering can achieve good bit error rate performance. With error correcting codes, we can make soft replica by not only the output of MMSE filter, but also that of soft decision decoder. In this paper, we compare Turbo-MMSE-SIC and LDPC-MMSE-SIC. From the computer simulation, we show that Turbo-MMSE-SIC and LDPC-MMSE-SIC can achieve the good bit error performance. We also show that the Irregular LDPC code optimized for an AWGN channel and the SISO system achieve the good bit error rate performance in the MIMO system and the MMSE-SIC system.
