Abstract(in English) This report proposes a space division multiplexing method with the subcarrier phase hopping (SPH-SDM) and applies it to MIMO-OFDM mobile communications. SPH-SDM, which is an extended version of the conventional SPH scheme to enable SDM transmission, can adjust the number of transmitted data streams. It rotates the streams by different phases that depend on indices of transmit antennas, subcarriers, and OFDM symbols, so that the data streams can be orthogonal to each others. Such phase rotation can randomize channel frequency responses and thus can improve frequency diversity due to a channel code, even when the code with a limited-size interleaver in the frequency domain is used and delay spread of the channel is small. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme, computer simulations are conducted under a condition that the number of received antennas of a mobile terminal is less than that of transmit antennas of a base station and that the delay spread is small. Even under the condition that degrades the diversity effect, it is found that SPH-SDM can improve the transmission performance by exploiting the inherent frequency diversity.
