Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In recent years, small mobile devices such as a cellular phone are becoming increasingly common by the development of communications technology. It is necessary for these devices to use noise reduction algorithms, since users can talk in a wide variety of noise environments. This paper describes the effects of noise reduction algorithms on speech quality. For this purpose, the subjective and objective quality assessment of speech signals processed by noise reduction algorithms is performed. In experiments, noisy speech data from the AURORA-2J connected digit recognition task, ITU-T recommendation P.862 (PESQ), typical four noise reduction algorithms arc used. Experimental results confirmed that there is a strong correlation between the subjective MOS and the objective MOS for each individual noise reduction algorithm. This means that the objective quality is affected by the difference of noise reduction algorithms.
