Abstract(in English) Backbone routers are required to support a flexible architecture and carrier-grade reliability. Therefore, we propose Open Architecture Router (OAR) composed of independent control cards and packet forwarding cards (LCs) using ATCA and ForCES standard. This paper describes the requirements for routing and QoS control functions of OAR backplane packet forwarding. This paper proposes a routing control method using MPLS so that Egress LCs don't have to do large routing table lookups. Also, this paper proposes a QoS control method using backpressure messages from Egress LCs or switch cards to Ingress LCs not to make an impact on packet forwarding throughput destined for any non-congested port.
