Abstract(in English) | Ubiquitous computing environments will be established in the near future. In the ubiquitous computing environments, variety of service components will be supplied, such as, traditional Web services, functions running on users' terminals, e.g., PCs or PDAs, sensors embedded in the environments, network-connected appliances. Because the context around the user or service components is changing time to time, it is important to establish dynamic context-aware service-coordination technologies. On the other hand, there are many methods for the users to be supplied with the services, such as special software executing on the users' terminals or general-purpose Web browser executing on thin-client terminals, e.g. cellular phones. A thin-client terminal takes the role of the user agent, which corresponds to the change of the user context, searches for and discovers the variety of devices or service fragments, selects the appropriate ones, and provides the users with the target services. This paper describes one implementation of the thin-client system and reports the evaluation results by using high-functioned cellular phones. Establishment of this technology has an impact on the ubiquitous computing environments and the services on them in the near future. |
