Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) 3G-WLAN interworking system provides users with access to the widespread communication area which 3G system has, and access of a broadband which a WLAN system has. In this paper, we clarify requirements and issues in 3G-WLAN interworking system, and propose handover methods which solve them. In this architecture, in order to lessen the amount of change to 3GPP TS 23.234 standard specification as much as possible, FA function of a mobile IP is installed in GGSN (Gateway GPRS Support Node) and PDG (Packet Data Gateway), respectively. Furthermore, in order that 3G system mediates movement of the terminal within WLAN-AN, the seamless handover can be made within WLAN-AN.
