Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes an enhanced Internet named the Express Net as the next generation network, which is placed in parallel with the Internet. The Express Net is placed at the position of an expressway network, when the Internet is regarded as the general roads. The Express Net must be a connection-based low layer network, considering the performance improvement, multi-protocol handling, and security enhancement from the Internet. Use of well-known PVC like the well-known port in IP communications is proposed to diminish the overhead in the setup for the single packet in the connection-based network. The setup delay becomes prominent in the long distance communications which traverse more than one network. Connections can be set up in parallel in those networks under the supports of IN to reduce the setup delay.
