| Abstract(in English) | Recently, since the appearance of various applications and the change of its utilization, the amount of traffics in the networks and its characteristics have tremendously changed. Therefore, a large amount of various and unpredictable data are flowing in the networks. Consequently, monitoring the traffic states in the network has become more important since the patterns and conditions of network obstacles have also changed. As to this monitoring technology of the traffics, packet sampling technology has recently attracted attention because it can flexibly respond to the higher speed of the line. However, in the previous studies, there is little argument on the packet loss rate which is an important index of the networks. In this study, we propose a method to estimate the packet loss rate from the packets observed by sampling. In TCP communication, once a packet loss occurs, there generates duplicate ACKs. In our proposed method, using this property, we made it possible to estimate packet loss rate by sampling measurement after we clarified sampling probability and the probability that duplicate ACKs can monitored. Furthermore, through simulation, we have evaluated the accuracy of estimated packet loss rate and showed the validity of the proposal method. |
