Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes quantitative evaluation of the safety of driving assistance system using inter-vehicle communication in each diffusion phase. The evaluation indexes of the safety from the viewpoint of the system-equipped vehicles and the safety from the viewpoint of the system-unequipped vehicles are examined. The quantitative evaluation on the safety of the collision warning type of driving assistance system is carried out by using a microscopic traffic simulator. The results of the simulation show that in the diffusion phase (system diffusion ratio is 20 to 60), the non-accident traveling distance of the system-equipped vehicles is extended approximately 1.5 times as compared to the non-accident traveling distance in the non-diffusion phase. Besides, the safety of the system-equipped vehicle increases largely at the region of more than 60% diffusion ratio.
