Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A fast visualization system for baseball pitch trajectories is developed. The system extracts and tracks fast-moving ball regions in baseball video, and visualizes the trajectory from pitcher to catcher. It extracts ball location robustly using frame subtraction, feature extraction and classification, and predicts the forward location using a Kalman filter and least-squares method. The filtering process extracts the ball cleanly even in the presence of other moving clutter, and the prediction process allows automatic tracking and the display of the trajectory across bright regions. A system has been used in live broadcast programs.
