Abstract(in English) We have produced a trial system for real-time feedback control of the embedded intensity using quantitative image deterioration levels and digital watermark detection rates by embedding different types of digital watermarks for the distribution and user sides based on distribution of broadcasting content via digital broadcasts and the Internet. Generally, digital watermark detection rates and image deterioration are contradictory, such that any increase in the detection rate is detrimental to the image quality, so if embedding is to be performed without loss of image quality, it is difficult to achieve an acceptable level of detection. We have devised a method that enables improvement in the digital watermark detection rate while still maintaining the image quality even when inserting digital watermarks on both the distribution and user sides through feedback control based on a newly discovered correlation for image quality and digital watermark embedding, which we hereby report.
