Proposal of Dynamically Drawing Road Map by Extracting Road Surface Color

Abstract(in English) Recently, car navigation systems are widely spread. So, creating and refreshing road map information used for the systems is required to be more frequently. Though, heavy man power, time, and cost are needed to create and refresh the map for the map makers. Therefore, we propose a road map creating system by a large number of the navigation system users themselves, and they shares the created maps each other. In this paper, a road width detection technique for the new system is presented. The road width is calculated from the camera images based on road surface color detection, and the information is united with position information from GPS.
