Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Several methods for reconstruction of missing textures in still images have been studied. However, they cannot restore the missing areas without suffering from degradations, so that their performance is not enough for accurate restoration. Therefore, this paper proposes an accurate reconstruction method using the ER (Error-Reduction) algorithm. Noting a feature of texture images, the proposed method can calculate the Fourier transform magnitude of the area including missing pixels from the area whose texture is similar in the target image. The similar texture is selected by a novel approach monitoring the errors of the ER algorithm. Further, the proposed method recovers the phase of the target area from the obtained Fourier transform magnitude by using the ER algorithm modified for the restoration and can accurately reconstruct the missing textures. Some experimental results are shown to verify its high performance of the proposed method.
