Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The purpose of this paper is to roughly segment color images containing both man-made objects and natural objects. 'Rough segmentation' means the type of segmentation in which the region of a tree is regarded as one region in contrast to detailed segmentation that considers a tree as many branch regions and leaf regions. We propose the modified version of the hierarchical segmentation method based on fuzzy inference that integrates three features into the algorithm : the brightness feature and the chromatic feature as color features, and the statistical geometrical features as texture features. The proposed method tries to provide rough segmentation of man-made objects and natural objects. The comparative experiments with the conventional method are performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
