Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) High quality and multi-channel analogue video distribution services have been widely deployed recently. This trend is increasing demands for optical branch units, optical fiber amplifiers to compensate loss associated with optical branch and optical switches for system redundancy. We have developed an optical fiber amplifier (EDFA: Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier) suitable for video distribution services then. This amplifier features high density mounting that up to 9 EDFA units can be mounted into a 3U-height chassis, and also features an eye safe function in case of optical fiber disconnection. In this report, we describe the characteristics of the EDFA unit, the optical branch unit, the optical switch unit which can be mounted in the same chassis, and a multi-port optical fiber amplifier which enables further improvement in mounting density.
