Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Increasing demands of Internet access are now strongly emphasizing to require broadband access services in consumer fields. The xDSL has already been spread because of its convenient installing, but it recently shows the limitation of communication capacity and service area. On the other hands, the optical access, which has been slowly introduced due to its higher system costs, is now being generalized rapidly under the requests to higher speed access services. In this paper, we report the recent technical trends of data communications, video distributions over access networks and the applications of optical technologies to wireless access services.
