Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We present a method for estimating Pure Bend Loss of hybrid modes from the propagation properties in circularly bent slab waveguides. The waves in dielectric loaded waveguides such as H-guides are hybrid modes and equivalent to those in circularly bent slab waveguides. The propagating normal modes in dielectric loaded waveguides are calculated and modal matching technique are applied to obtain the propagation properties in bends. We show numerically that the propagation characteristics and Pure Bend Losses of LSE modes tend to be asymptotically like those of TE modes of the slab waveguide as the height of loaded dielectric becomes larger. On the otherhand, as the hight of loaded dielectric becomes smaller, the propagation characteristics and Pure Bend Losses of LSE modes tend to be asymptotically like those of hybrid modes in the NRD guide.
