Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Polyaniline films prepared by casting the NMP solution of emeraldine base on glass substrate are elongated by 3-4% at the direction along the film length upon electrochemical oxidation in acid electrolytes. Contrary to this, it has been found that the thickness of the films swell by 20-30%. These facts indicate that the deformation is anisotropic, resulting from the secondary structure of polymer chains formed during the condensation. It is also round that the elongation ratios depend on pH, namely, at pH<1 the ratio is almost independent on kinds of anion, however, at pH>1 the ratio depends on anions. This fact is explained by the idea that doping and dedoping of proton and anion at these pHs.
