Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes the experimental results of the X-ray diffraction, optical absorption, and electrical measurements of chlorophyll and carotene abstracted from leaves. In the X-ray diffraction measurement, the film obtained showed several diffraction peaks. On the other hand, highly purified chlorophyll did not show the sharp diffraction peak, whereas highly purified carotene showed many diffraction peaks. The X-ray rocking curve showed the apparent peak, indicating that the molecules of chlorophyll and/or carotene in the film were stacked along the particular direction. It is expected that the characteristics of the devices using chlorophyll and/or carotene are very much improved by controlling the crystallinity and molecular orientation.
