Abstract(in English) | In this paper,we propose an antenna tracking method with an open- loop control algorithm using a geomagnetic sensor and an fiber optical gyroscope (FOG) for land-mobile satellite communication systems.In open-loop tracking methods,the characteristics of vehicle's motion sensors are very important,because they influence the whole performance of the land-mobile antenna system.Generally, a geomagnetic sensor is inexpensive and can detect the absolute running direction of a vehicle,but its performance is affected by magnetic disturbance from buildings,bridges and other vehicles.On the other hand,FOG can detect precise angular velocities of vehicle's motion,but has accumulative error in the obtained direction.In the proposed tracking method,we combine the advantages of each sensor to detect the precise direction of the vehicle for antenna tracking. Field experiments using an L-band signal transmitted from the Japanese Engineering Test Satellite Five (ETS-V) approved that the proposed method shows a good antenna-tracking performance under frequent magnetic disturbances,while the test vehicle is running on bridges and overpasses. |
