X-Ray astronomy Satellite "ASCA"

Abstract(in English) ASCA is the Japan's fourth X-ray astronomy satellite launched on Feb. 20, 1993, by theISAS M-3SII rocket. ASCA carries a high-capability X-ray telescope to perform precise observations of various X-ray sources. The key elements of ASCA were successfully turned on in orbit and ASCA is now working as an X-ray astronomy observatory open to every scientists in the world. Here, the properties of ASCA and a part of scientific results obtained so far are reviewed.
