Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) At the present the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science has been developing a new M-V launch vehicle, the first flight of which is scheduled for 1996. LUNAR-A mission will be performed in 1997 with the second flight of the M-V vehicle, in order to investigate inner structure of the moon. Three penetrators with seismometers will be injected into the lunar surface and construct a seismological network on the moon, which can determine the inner structure of the moon. The outline of LUNAR-A is briefly described here in terms of the mission sequence, the penetrators and the mother spacecaft.
