Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The International Microgravity Laboratory (IML) program is a series of International Microgravity experiments, using Space shuttle/ Spacelab promoted by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the U.S.A. In November 1989, NASA selected six Japanese experiment system as prospective equipment for IML-2. NASDA then issued the Announcement of Opportunities (AO) to solicit proposals for space experiments. Seventy-five experiments were consequently proposed from various organizations in Japan. From these, twelve themes were selected. In October 1992, Dr. Chiaki Mukai, one of four NASDA astronauts, was designated as the prime Payload Specialist (PS). IML-2 is scheduled for launch in July 1994.
