Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Some researchres have suggested the existence of auditory frequency selectivity in the modulation-frequency domain. In this paper, we investigate the difference in perception of AM sounds modulated by a pure tone and band-limited noises for various bandwidths and amplitudes combinations. AM sound with noise and that with 16Hz pure tone and noise are used as stimuli, and the subjects judged if they are the same or not. Making a threshold for distinguishing the two AM sounds at more than 50%, a characteristic bandwidth for 16Hz pure tone were obtained, which may be called critical bandwidth.
