Abstract(in English) | Quasi-zenithal satellite orbits are discussed to be applied for mobile satellite communication, because the orbits are able to provide high elevation angles for cities in medium latitude. The satellite orbits are achieved when a inclination is attached to geostationaly satellite orbits. The orbits provides high elevation angle of more than 70 degrees in Tokyo and more than 60 degrees in all areas of Japan. These high elevation angles, however, can be blocked by buildings. In this background, it is important to evaluate duration of communication links between the satellites and vehicles running in the real roads. In this paper, we propose an effective evaluation method using blocking probability of signals from satellites of the Global Positionning System. Results of this evaluation are also discussed. |
