Nondestructive Method for Measurement of Scattering Coefficients in the Microwave Region(II)

Abstract(in English) A new method of measuring the scattering coefficient was developped in order to provide a nondestructive way of measuring electromagnetic constants of materials in the Microwave Region. In our previous scattering-coefficient measurement system, the extraneous direct wave was separated from the received wave by raising or lowering the vertical position of the specimen and the metal plate slightly. Therefore, this method is not suitable for nondestructive measurements. In the new measurement method designed by us, the direct wave and the system enables us to nondestructively measure both backward- and forward-scattering coefficients for various type of materials. We show the metal plate size dependence of complex reflection and transmission coefficients of some dielectric sheet sample at 9.5GHz.
