Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper presents a relief modeling systen in the virtual space. The systen consists of an interactive modeling environment and a shape conversion program. The interactive system provides several curving tools that simulate real relief modeling, such as chisels, outline sketches and so on. Domestic functions such as pulling up a segment at once are also prepared. Grayscale images are used to generate small roughness mapped onto the modeled surfaces. In this way, we also make use of advantage of virtual space modeling. We prepared functions to make relieves automatically from published 3D shape data. A 3D object is translated to a height-map then separated to a detail shape and an abstract shape. The converted object is represented by a compressed abstract shape with an emphasized detail. Such multiple modeling methods provide for users easy and speedy modeling relieflike objects.
