Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Signal transmission through cascaded nonlinear optical loop mirrors (NOLM's) is theoretically studied. First, we studied waveform deformation as a function of the operation point of the NOLM and the walk-off time between signal wave and control pulse when an isolated pulse is transmitted. It was found that the pulse shape can be kept when the condition is optimally chosen. Second, we examin the capability of noise suppression and influence of dispersion between NOLM's when random pulse trains at 40 or 80Gb/s are transmitted. These analysises reveal the cascadability of the wavelength converters, which is an important element in all-optical networks.
