Abstract(in English) High spectral efficiency is the key to realize cost-effective ultra long-haul WDM transmission systems. From that perspective, in this report, we evaluated the effectiveness of vestigial-sideband RZ (VSB-RZ) signals in multi-thousand km WDM transmission regarding the robustness against PMD, dispersion, repeater output variation and channel spacing reduction in comparison with the conventional RZ signals. We also show the experimental results on 35GHz-spaced 20Gbit/s VSB-RZ 100WDM signal transmission over 2700km.
