Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | The Cricket escapes from a predator, after perceiving a wind caused by predator's approach. The cercal sensory cells responding to the wind converge upon the cercal sensory interneurons which convey die wind information to the central nervous system. Time motion system must extract the direction of wind from spike trains transmitted along a set of interneurons. We report here that two interneurons fire synchronously when wind stimulus is given from a particular direction. The he synchronous firing indicates a common input to the two interneurons from sensory cells. The cricket may use the synchronous firing wind direction separately from intensity. |
