Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We examined the effect of ELF electrostimulation on the histamine release from mast cells. They are closely related to allergic disorders. Fifty Hz electrostimulation was applied to rat peritoneal mast cells through electrodes in direct contact or by capacitively coupled electric current. To examine the temporal sequence of the reactions, a sensitizer (compound48/80) was added just before and after the stimulation. No effect was observed on the histamine release after the sensitization. However, the electrostimulation before the sensitization suppressed the histamine release. To examine the involvement of cellular interaction between mast cells and other cells, the electrostimulation was applied to purified mast cells. Then, the suppression effect on the histamine release was diminished.
