Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we describe an Intelligent Problem Authoring Environment for arithmetical word problems. The environment is composed of problem-making editor, problem data base and applications of the problem data. The problem-making editor is the main component of the environment. In the problem-making editor, a problem is characterized by differences from the basic problem that can be solved by the same solution method. The editor provides an author with the base problem. Then, the author changes the base problem to the problem that the author likes to make. The operations that change the base one are used to describe the characteristics of the new problem. An author can also define the base problem and the solution method with the editor.
