Analysis of Time-Domain Inverse Scattering Problem for a Layered Medium with Genetic Algorithm

Abstract(in English) A time-domain inverse scattering problem of reconstructing the relative permittivity of a lossless layered medium, which is located in free space, is investigated. The scattered electric field is simulated by using the FDTD method with PML. A cost functional is defined by the difference between the scattered electric field measured and the one calculated for an estimated relative permittivity. Applying the genetic algorithm to the minimization of the functional, one can reconstruct the relative permittivity. A new fitness function used in the genetic algorithm is proposed to reduce the computation time. Numerical results for the five- and ten-layered media are presented to show the effectiveness of our method.
