Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Distyrylbenzene (DSB) derivatives, trimer of poly(p-phenylenevinylene), with cyano and alkoxy groups were vapor-deposited on a friction-transferred poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE) layer. Optical and structural properties of DSBs/PTFE double layers were characterize by TEM, electron diffraction, FT-IR, polarized UV-Vis absorption and polarized photoluminescence measurements. Some DSBs gre epitaxially on a PTFE layer. Epitaxially grown DSBs/PTFE double layers indicated the remarkable anisotropic feature in absorption and emission properties. Among these films, the highest dichroic ratio in absorption and emission was about 8 and 10, respectively. In such film, the long axis of DSB was parallel to the PTFE friction direction. We proposed the molecular orientation model of DSBs/PTFE double layer from the results of TEM observation and optica measurements.
