Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Holographic PDLC (Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal) devices are expected to give reflective LCD with high reflectance, because of no need of color filters or polarizer. To prove usefulness of the HPDLC devices as reflective display, we have fabricated 3-layer multi-color display (4-letter display). Each layer of the HPDLC devices was assembled on thin glass substrates (0.1mm thick) for the depression of the parallax and used holographic diffuser for improving the viewing angle. The HPDLC device showed a white reflective color which was close to the standard white at 0V and showed a multi-color under applied voltages.
