Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, various LCD modes are developed for the purpose of the viewing-angle expansion of LCDs, and these modes have wide viewing angle over 140 degrees in horizontal and vertical directions. However, the wide viewing angle which is over 140 degrees in all directions has not been reported. In this paper, we investigated a wide-view polarizer with extremely low light leakages in all directions. A biaxial film to compensate for changes in optical axis of polarizer was made based on this theory, and a wide-view polarizer was produced by laminating it with PVA-polarizer. It is achieved that the expansion of the viewing angle of LCD was obtained by using this wide-view polarizer.
