Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) SH-SAW (Shear horizontal type surface acoustic wave) have only shear horizontal displacement. The surface wave is complete reflected at the free edge. A new SH-SAW sensor has been designed for a probe of liquid sensing. The SH-SAW reflected at the free edge has been studied in order to use as a liquid phase sensor probe. The SH-SAW are excited on a 36° YX LiTaO_3substrate and the right angle edge has been used to reflect the waves. Several experiments were performed to verify the edge reflection sensor by using some mixtures. The experimental results showed that the velocity and the amplitude of the reflected wave depend on the viscosity and the density of the loaded mixtures.
