Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We prepared the command surface Liquid crystal (LC) cells triggered by the surface azobenzene monolayer with Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) method. We measured the optical transmittance and the electrical capacitance of the LC cells at the same time to examine the orientational trasition process of LC molecules. The experimental results were analyzed using the continuum theory. It was shown that the experimental results of Polyimide LB films with azobenzene monolayer well support the analytical results and the azobenzene monolayers have the function of changing the easy axis direction of Liquid crystals.
