Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Various odors are generated in a residential area by humans. It is necessary to know the kinds and grades of odors for recognizing daily life patterns. In this study, four kinds of odor sensors are adopted, all of which are the metal oxide type. The daily behaviors of the residents are recognized and understood using sensor-output characteristics. A sensor unit, which consists of four odor sensors is installed in the residence. There are twelve sensor units set up at various points. Opening and shutting a door, taking a meal and sleeping can be estimated as some of the behaviors from the sensor characteristics. A running spectrum-method, which is a kind of frequency analysis, is used to grasp an air-conditioner operation. The spectrum has a high frequency component at meal time.
