Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For local nalysis on a nanometer scale, the measurements of the STM-induced luminescence from metal particles are descrived. The measurements have been carried out in ultra high vacuum as well as in liquid. The correlation between emitted photon inensity and STM topography is discussed. The spectrally resolved photon emission map on a nanometer scale can be obtained to study the local electronic structure which is dependent on the geometric structure. The theory of STM-induced luminescence is extended to the calculation of emission spectra from a specrical particle. The STM-induced luminescence in liquid has been obtained for the study of electronic process at liquid-solid interface. The emission spectra in liquid is discussed in terms of the dielectric constants of liquids at the tunneling gap.
